Now I used to be a lowly page in a library shelving the
notorious 300's section which of course contains the famous (Career, Death
or Taxes) Ultimate Evil....I read it, various books on John Wayne Gacy and
crowd, been there. Dahmer, Ramirez, Roy Raden, Strangler....etc etc. I
read 'em, and I understood their killings. Driving in Dallas in rush hour,
would anyone doubt me? This movie however throws a bunch of shit at you
fairly quick, all surrounding the main character of 'Death and the Maiden'
Sigourney Weaver. Her breast's are about as firm as the 360 pound woman
who I watch doing the single digit (Typing wand) key entry at work, while
breaking a sweat. There are fewer breasts in the world that I do NOT want
to see, more than Sigourney Weaver's breasts. When you reach a certain
age, your breasts sag, many leading actresses in Hollywood need to both
learn and understand this. Surgery more often than not does not stall this
problem, but intensifies it. However I realize I've strayed of the path of
this movie.....if you dig a decent thriller, this ain't half bad. Watch it
a second time or more and you catch a bunch of visuals that you missed the
first time. Of which I think the director intended it.

I've seen this film 3 or 4 times and it holds up as a cool
suspense thriller. All involved give a fairly good performance.
The surprise of the film was Harry Connick, JR. who at the time had not
had much exposure to film. He was a most excellent white trash
psycho. "Squirrel covers" <lol>
For this review I viewed the film on DVD with two other
members of the Movie Pit staff, Drunken Master and Randolph Carter. The
highlight of this viewing was more about the philosophy of DM than the
movie itself. You see this was the second film of the evening and as
you know DM consumes a fair amount of alcohol during the viewing of films.
This leads to words of wisdom being issued from DM's mouth at a fair clip.
Here is a rundown of key ideas that were expressed by
Drunken Master during Copycat.
-
one should live ones life according to the Etch A Sketch
theory of life. For those who don't know about the Etch A Sketch
theory, here it is. Nirvana can be reached through the consumption
of mass quantities of alcohol 24 hours a day 365 days a year. This
leads to the mind being unable to hold information for over 5 to 10
minutes at a time thus like the child's toy (the Etch A Sketch) the
slate is wiped clean. That is the highest attainable state for DM.
-
even though Drunken Master has seen this film numerous
times it was clear to the other 2 members of the Movie Pit staff that DM was
holding onto the edge of his sanity for the fear that he was going to be
exposed to Sigourney Weaver's tits.
-
Drunken Master then began to enact what it would be like
to have breast sex with Sigourney Weaver. It wasn't a pretty
sight.
-
then Drunken Master moved to impersonations of Sigourney
Weaver using "tongue action" on her own nipples. This continued
throughout the rest of the film. This wasn't a pretty sight
either.
Overall I gave Copycat a 7 but with the added Drunken
Master element, the film actually reaches a level of comedy that was never
really intended. So if you factor in DM, the film is actually a
little higher, maybe a 8 or so, depending on the amount of alcohol
consumed. (That would be the amount of alcohol for both DM and oneself,
it's a delicate balance.) |
